I Am Ruth

On the 11th of April 2006, a few days after our precious Pastor had started
preaching from the book of Ruth, the Holy Spirit gave me this song. I never
really read a lot before but when my Pastor started preaching from the book
of Ruth, I began to get a nudge to pick up my Bible and read from the book of
Ruth. That day was so different from other days.

I got up, prayed and read the entire book of Ruth. While doing my house work
I felt such a wonderful atmosphere around me that I knew the Holy Spirit was
right there. Satan didn’t like that so he sent many distractions to try and
get me out of that sweet presence but the Holy Spirit said to me, “You need
to shut away from everything and everyone. I have something for you.” I
immediately dropped what I was doing and went into a room where my father
studies the Word.

I knew I was going to get a song because it’s not the first time I wrote a
song, so I took paper, a pen and my brother’s guitar with me. While in the
room, He led me back to the scripture in Ruth that I was reading before.
While reading, I started hearing words so I took my pen and wrote them down.
I began strumming some chords on the guitar and the tune just began to flow.

I then put the words and the tune together. I believe God can do anything for
young, old or middle aged. I’m sixteen and I have seen God use younger
children than me in the Bible. When the Lord gave me this song I knew He was
just preparing me to be a joint heir with Him.

Lyrics

Where thou goest I will go
Where thou lodgest I will lodge
Where thou goest I will go
Where thou lodgest I will lodge

CHORUS
I am Ruth, a virtuous woman
Into Boaz field
Whose eyes shall I find
Great favor in
Cover me with Your garment
Of love

From the field to the threshing floor
From the threshing floor into the garner
From the field to the threshing floor
From the threshing floor into the garner

CHORUS…

BRIDGE
You are my Kinsman Redeemer
The One who covered me
Took me from the field to have rest
No longer in Moab, into Bethlehem
United with a near Kinsman
